370 Young People Shared Their Visions for Greenland’s Future in Qaqortoq

Last week, Greenland Business Association brought together 370 young people for the Future of Greenland youth business conference at Campus Kujalleq in Qaqortoq. The event focused on young people’s perspectives on education, business, culture and societal development under the theme “The Future is Greenland – Youth in the Arctic Decade.”

The conference was founded on the clear principle that Greenland’s future must be shaped together with its young people. Students, business leaders, politicians and organisations therefore gathered for a day of inspiration, dialogue and debate about the opportunities and challenges shaping Greenland’s development in these years.

The programme included presentations on entrepreneurship, culture, tourism, mining, creative industries and business development from an international perspective. Young people also actively participated in discussions with local politicians, where they had the opportunity to ask questions and express their hopes and aspirations for Greenland’s future.

Several of the day’s discussions focused on issues that matter to many young people: educational opportunities, preserving the Greenlandic language, the role of culture in society, developing local employment opportunities and the need for strong and stable foundations for future generations.

For Greenland Business Association, engaging in dialogue with young people is an important part of its efforts to strengthen business development across the country.

“Nothing about youth without youth” is a guiding principle of Future of Greenland. The perspectives and messages shared by young participants at the conference will help inform and enrich the ongoing discussions about Greenland’s future, both at the Future Greenland conference and within the wider business community.

A big thank you to all participants, speakers, partners, sponsors and volunteers who helped make the event in Qaqortoq a success.
