On May 6, 2026, Greenland Business brought together more than 400 young people for Future of Greenland, the youth business conference held at Katuaq in Nuuk. The conference was held for the third time and carried a clear message: Nothing about youth – without youth.
Under the theme “The Future is Greenland – Youth in the Arctic Decade”, the conference focused on what it means to be young in Greenland at a time when the Arctic is gaining increasing global importance. Growing international interest, geopolitics, security, and new business opportunities formed the backdrop for a day of dialogue, inspiration, and debate.
At Future of Greenland, young people met face-to-face with representatives from the business community, politicians, and other stakeholders. Through presentations and conversations, space was created for young people to share their perspectives on education, employment, development, and Greenland’s role in the world. The day concluded with a clear message from the youth to the upcoming Future Greenland business conference taking place on May 19–20, 2026.
The conference highlighted that Greenland’s future is created collectively, and that young people are not merely the future workforce, but active co-creators of the country’s business sector and society.
Throughout the day at Katuaq, clear words and illustrations captured both the hopes, concerns, and ambitions for Greenland’s future, as well as the role young people wish to play in business and society.
A recurring message throughout the day was about taking responsibility. This applies to the business community, which must take responsibility for creating opportunities for young people to pursue, while young people themselves must also take responsibility and seize the many opportunities being created and made available to them.
Finally, the importance of community and collaboration was emphasized several times during the day — Greenland’s future must be built on cooperation across generations, industries, and political divides.
The messages from the youth were collected and will be brought forward to the Future Greenland business conference taking place on May 19–20, 2026. The signal is clear: the decisions of the future must be made with, and not merely about, the next generation.
