On 1 July 2026, the Government of Greenland's new Executive Order on paid hunting and recreational fishing entered into force. The regulations on paid recreational fishing apply to all visitors without permanent residence in Greenland who fish for non-quota fish species.
The rules remain unchanged: Fishing requires a valid fishing licence, the licence is personal, and it must be presented upon request. If your company offers recreational fishing trips, you should therefore ensure that your guests are clearly informed that they must obtain their own valid fishing licence.
The new feature is the turistfisketegn.gl web portal. Here, tourists can purchase fishing licences valid for one day, one week, or one month—without the need for MitID. Tourism operators can also register as users and purchase fishing licences on behalf of their customers.
The licence fees remain unchanged.
