Sulisitsisut and Vinnuhúsið Strengthen Cooperation Across the North Atlantic

Nuuk, 1 October 2026

Sulisitsisut (GE) and the Faroese employers’ and business organisation Vinnuhúsið have entered into a new cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening business development and business policy cooperation between Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The agreement formalises closer cooperation between the two organisations on a range of shared challenges and opportunities in the North Atlantic.

Greenland and the Faroe Islands share many of the same framework conditions as small, open economies in which fisheries, exports, transport and international markets play a significant role. Through the new cooperation agreement, the parties aim to strengthen knowledge-sharing, the exchange of experience and joint representation of interests in areas where the two countries face similar challenges and opportunities.

The cooperation covers, among other areas, fisheries, labour and education, the construction sector, infrastructure, transport and logistics, defence and emergency preparedness, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, tourism, as well as other shared business interests such as cybersecurity and sustainability.

Christian Keldsen, CEO of Sulisitsisut, sees the agreement as a natural step in further developing the strong relations between the two countries:

“Greenland and the Faroe Islands have much to learn from one another. We face many of the same challenges, but also many of the same opportunities. With this agreement, we are strengthening cooperation between our business communities and creating an even stronger foundation for business development in the North Atlantic.”

Christian Keldsen also highlights the particular value of joining forces on specific business policy priorities:

“There is considerable potential in exchanging experience and developing joint solutions in areas such as labour, infrastructure, digitalisation and emergency preparedness. When we cooperate across the North Atlantic, our businesses are in a stronger position, and together we can help create better conditions for growth and development.”

The agreement also provides opportunities for increased cooperation on trade delegations, export promotion initiatives, business development activities and networking between companies in Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The cooperation will be followed up through annual status meetings between the two organisations.

For Sulisitsisut, the cooperation represents an important contribution to strengthening ties across the North Atlantic and creating new opportunities for Greenlandic businesses at a time of increased focus on regional cooperation, security of supply and sustainable business development.
